Few Pop images are more widely recognized than Indiana's Love. Originally designed as a Christmas card commissioned by The Museum of Modern Art in 1965, Love has appeared in prints, paintings, sculptures, banners, rings, tapestries, and stamps.

Full of erotic, religious, autobiographical, and political underpinning, Love is both accessible and complex in meaning. It was co-opted as an emblem of 1960s idealism. Perhaps that's what my figure is thinking about on this painting.

I create small studies like Love in preparation for a finished piece or just as visual notes. I often use my small studies to understand the problems involved in rendering subjects and to plan the elements to be used in finished works, such as light, color, form, perspective and composition.

These small studies are exclusively available through my shop and blog. All studies are signed on the reverse.

Shipping takes about two weeks no matter where you live in the world. Price includes shipping and handling. You'll receive your painting safely packaged and ready to frame.
