painting of a woman enjoying painting by Henri Matisse
acrylic on panel (MDF)
15 3/4" x 19 2/3" or 40 x 50 cm
The woman on my painting is admiring Red Room by Henri Matisse who painted it in 1908 in his Paris studio with its windows looking out over a monastery garden. It is considered by some critics to be Matisse's masterpiece. The painting was commissioned as Harmony in Blue, but Matisse was dissatisfied with the result, and so he painted it over with his preferred red. The artist himself called this a decorative panel and the motif of a room decorated with vases, fruits and flowers became common in Matisse’s works.
Red Room is an original, 100% handmade painting and comes with a hand signed Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is signed at the back and front. An installment plan is possible to spread payments over a convenient length of time. Shipping takes about two weeks no matter where you live in the world.
